Hilco van Elten is currently employed as Assistant Professor at Nyenrode’s Center for Management Accounting & Control. His research interest is mainly in incentive system design. Currently Van Elten’s main research activities focus on Relative Performance Evaluation amongst middle-managers (following up on his PhD research), and on Simon’s Levers of Control framework (with dr. Sally Widener, dr. Anne-Marie Kruis, and prof. dr. Roland Speklé).
Van Elten teaches various courses for Nyenrode’s MSc in Controlling (MScC), and Executive Master in Financial Controlling (EMFC) programmes. These courses include:
- Management Accounting and Control 2 (MScC/EMFC)
- Summercourse Management Accounting and Control (MScC/EMFC)
- Applied Business Research (MScC)
Hilco van Elten holds an MSc-degree from Erasmus University (2004; Economics and Business, Major Accounting and Controlling), and a Bachelor degree from Utrecht Polytechnic (2002, HEAO Accountancy RA). Throughout 2000 and 2001, he worked in the auditing department of a major accounting firm.
