Our activities

Nyenrode's Center for Finance has five specializations:

• Corporate Financial Management
  The goal of this program is to develop skills for making corporate investment decisions and for analyzing risk. Topics include discounted cash flow and other valuation techniques; capital budgeting; and investment and financing decisions in the international context. Through business cases and simulations we help you acquire a broad and thorough knowledge base about top level business decisions and their impact on the value creation of an organization.
• Entrepreneurial Finance
  This program is focused on assessing new sources of funding for start-ups, determining whether these sources are appropriate and how they add value for both investors and entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurial Finance is especially useful for young firms, going beyond the basics of venture capital and angel financing to look at venture debt, bank finance, and receivables financing.
• Financial and Monetary Economics
  This program explores how international financial markets operate, the roles of governments and supervisory bodies, and the impact of monetary policy on money flow and exchange rates.
• International Financial Markets & Instruments
  The objective of this program is to evaluate the financial industry and its complex products, focusing on the application of advanced financial analysis and traditional and more complex debt financing. You will study the language and general concepts used in credit risk management, and more generally in interpretation of strategic and financial information.
• Mergers & acquisitions and Private Equity
  This course uses an analytical framework and real-world applications to introduce the key principles and techniques of successful mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and leveraged buyouts. This program revolves around mergers, and acquisitions, alliances, and asset divestments, so that participants learn which choices are most appropriate for the execution of a successful corporate strategy that creates the most value for all stakeholders.

Our research

Our Center for Finance conducts research into a wide range of financial topics, presented at seminars and conferences around the world. The results of our research are published in leading international peer review journals and magazines.

We focus on six areas of expertise:

• Financing start-ups and scale-ups
• Fintech
• Monetary policy and financial supervision

Other activities

The Center for Finance organizes seminars and events for the Nyenrode community. We also support Nyenrode students' research activities key areas of finance such as the financial structure of firms, banks and other financial intermediaries; investment management; international financial markets; derivatives; insight in the various funding sources for start-ups; and the development of fintech and sustainable finance.

All this allows Nyenrode's students to assess the financial world and its applications in management from a broad perspective.
