Biography
My mission is to contribute in educating responsible leaders for the future, inspire and get inspired by my students and the Nyenrode community at large.
Prof. Dr. Désirée M. van Gorp LL.M. is Professor at Nyenrode Business Universiteit. She is part of Nyenrode's Faculty Research Center for Entrepreneurship, Governance & Stewardship.
What Désirée drives, is the combination of education, research and working with companies and the interaction with her students and alumni. This combination gives her energy and makes her tick. Désirée is teaching in BSc, MSc, Executive MBA, Full time MBA, Modular MBA and various executive education programs while advising boards and management in her field of expertise. She is proud of her teaching efforts resulting in being elected various times as professor of the year, her publications and the team work with her colleagues.
Currently, Désirée is Chairman of the International Advisory Board; Chairman of the Full time MBA Program Committee; and Deputy member of the Appeal Committee for General Management and PhD programs.
In the past ten years, Désirée was Associate Dean of the academic degree programs; Dean Ad interim of the Nyenrode New Business School; Program Director of the International full time MBA; Program Director of the Executive MBA; Member of the Appeal Committee for students General Management, PhD and Accountancy and Controlling; Member of the Boards of the Europe India Institute and the Stichting Nyenrode Fonds; and Director of the Department International Business & Diplomacy.
Désirée holds a Master's degree with a specialization in international law from Leiden University. She obtained her PhD in business administration at Nyenrode by defending her dissertation entitled "Offshoring in the service sector: an empirical investigation on the offshoring behavior of service firms and its influence on their foreign entry mode choice”.
In November 2022, during the 76th Dies Natalis at Nyenrode, Prof. Dr. Désirée van Gorp awarded an honorary doctorate to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
