Biography

I am enthusiastic about guiding business students and managers through turning business uncertainties into business opportunities.

Dr. Ir. Taher Ahmadi is an Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management and Analytics at Nyenrode Business University. He is a member of the Nyenrode Faculty Expertisecenter for Marketing & Supply Chain Management.

Dr. Ahmadi’s teaching, research, and consulting efforts focus on empowering businesses to enhance their operations and supply chain processes, enabling them to remain competitive in today’s global marketplace. His research centers on optimizing stochastic supply chains under demand and supply uncertainty, examining the impact of emerging technologies on supply chain resilience and performance, as well as advancing knowledge in inventory and revenue management, retail operations, and logistics.

His work has been published in reputable international journals within the fields of business management including the European Journal of Operational Research, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Journal of Business Logistics, Naval Research Logistics, IISE Transactions, OR Spectrum, and Annals of Operations Research.

In addition to conducting research and supervising theses, Dr. Ahmadi designs and teaches courses for undergraduate and graduate programs, such as Learning through Business Games and Operations & Supply Chain Management. As part of his teaching, he has developed a business game centered around a core concept in operations management, which he uses as a pedagogical tool. This game has also been adopted by other business schools, showcasing its effectiveness in fostering practical learning. Dr. Ahmadi additionally serves as the thesis coordinator for the Center for Marketing and Supply Chain Management.

Dr. Ahmadi earned his Ph.D. in Supply Chain and Operations Management from the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). During his doctoral studies, he spent time as a visiting scholar at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas. His professional experience includes roles in managing and controlling production and distribution processes within the automotive and pharmaceutical industries.

International activities

Dr. Ahmadi has collaborated with international scholars from the University of Waterloo in Canada, Queen's University Belfast in the UK, and Tehran Polytechnic and Kurdistan Universities in Iran. He maintains active ties as a guest researcher with Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), facilitating ongoing research collaborations. In 2024, Dr. Ahmadi contributed as a secondary proposer to the COST Action CA23157, under the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST). This initiative secured approximately €575,000 in funding over four years. He currently serves as a management committee member representing the Netherlands for this COST Action.

Interests

Ahmadi's hobby is playing soccer and spending quality time with his family.
