Barbara Majoor appointed new member of board Nyenrode Business University

Prof. dr. Barbara Majoor will be appointed as a member of the Executive Board and vice rector magnificus of Nyenrode Business University on December 1st. In her position, Majoor will be responsible for academic education. 

Barbara Majoor (1965) has been working at Nyenrode since 2006 as professor of Accountancy and since 2016 she has been director of the Center for Accounting, Auditing & Control. Majoor studied Business Economics at the University of Amsterdam. After obtaining a degree as a chartered accountant at the UvA, she obtained her doctorate in 1997 with a dissertation: "The Authority of Auditing Guidelines". Barbara has gained extensive experience in audit practice as a partner of KPMG (until 2008) and Deloitte (until 2015). 

“We are very pleased that Barbara Majoor is joining the board,” says Petri Hofsté, chairman of the board of the Nyenrode Foundation. “Barbara's appointment is memorable in several respects: the first professor of accountancy in this role, an internal appointment and the first female professor on the university board.” The Nyenrode Foundation is the shareholder and supervisor of the university. 

Nyenrode Business University is led by a collegial board that, with the arrival of Majoor, consists of three people. Rector Magnificus Prof. Dr. Koen Becking is chairman and responsible for scientific research, among other things. Drs. Remmelt Vetkamp is vice-chairman and responsible for operational management.

Majoor has also been working at the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) since 2015 as a supervisory specialist in the field of accountancy. As of her appointment, she will remain involved with the AFM once a week. She was previously a member of the Chamber of Accountants at the court in Zwolle.
