Introduction

IT managers, directors and CIOs need to have a good understanding of the domain Risk & Finance in order to support financial decision-making and manage risk, and managers from other functional domains need to have a good understanding of the IT perspectives of Risk & Finance. This understanding concerns various aspects of financial management in modern business & IT, embedded in a set of fundamental theories from the corporate finance and risk domain. Therefore, in the module, a balanced mix is presented of theoretical concepts and best practices in the area of risk & finance, especially around IT investment decision-making and IT related risk management.

What will you get out of it?

  • You gain broad knowledge and understanding of the corporate finance field;
  • You are able to read and interpret financial statements using concepts and applications of accounting;
  • You know how to evaluate proposals for new IT and other investments by applying quantitative methods from the Finance domain;
  • You know to identify the strategic, financial, compliance and operational risks facing an organization;
  • You are familiar with the various risk management frameworks and risk mitigation measures;
  • You can apply theories and best practices in the domain of Risk & Finance to their current and future work environments.

Curriculum

What are you going to do?

Our module Risk and Finance is centered on corporate finance and risk. You learn to apply your acquired knowledge to your daily work, and learn how to do research into financial and IT matters. The module contains 3 blocks:

  • Finance and Accounting basics
  • Corporate Finance & Management
  • Finance and IT in the Networked World

Create your own MBA

We understand combining work, study and personal life can be quite a challenge. That is why we have developed a modular MBA program. You create your own MBA and follow one or more modules or a complete MBA (containing a minimum of two track modules (specializations), six basic modules, the international study trip and the MBA thesis).

Admission and application

To be eligible for the module Risk and Finance you need:

  • At least five years' work experience as (general) manager or in an influential/strategic position
  • Proven minimum bachelor's level of work and/or education
  • Affinity with ICT
  • Sufficient knowledge of English

Experience session

If you are interested in this module, please join us for an experience session. This allows you to familiarize yourself with the course content and attend a trial lecture. You will also meet current and past participants so there is the opportunity to find out how they combined our program with busy jobs and social lives.
