Specifically, it is used for the analysis of unstructured text, audio, video, and image data. NVivo has a transcript function. Audio files can be uploaded and will be automatically transcribed. This feature requires buying transcription minutes. It is possible to import citations from EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero or other reference managers. It can be used for literature reviews. NVivo is available for Windows and Mac operating systems, though the Mac version is missing some features.

R must be installed first. RStudio lets you view graphs, data tables, R code and output simultaneously. It also lets you import CSV, Excel, SAS (.sas7bdat), SPSS (.sav) and Stata (.dta) files without having to write extra code.
